I built the gallery platform I wished I had.
Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a photographer in Tennessee and a mom of four girls. HeyShutter started as the answer to a problem I kept running into in my own studio, and it's built for the photographer I was when I started.
Why I started it
Your clients' photos deserve better than a missed payment.
When I started taking clients, I did what everyone does. I asked other photographers what they used and tried the gallery platforms they recommended. Every one of them did part of the job. I paid for galleries in one place, booking and contracts in another, and a website somewhere else. On the plans I could afford, the platform's name was on everything my clients saw.
Then came the horror stories. In photographer groups I kept reading about galleries that were simply gone: deleted after a missed payment, archived without warning, or lost when a platform closed its doors. Clients writing in about links that didn't work anymore. Those galleries are someone's wedding day and their baby's first week. They deserve better than that, and so do the photographers who made them.
So I stopped looking for the right platform and built one. My husband Jon builds software, and we started with my own studio: private galleries for my clients, a print store, booking with contracts, and a way to sort hundreds of pageant photos without spending the whole night dragging files. When other photographers started asking what I was using, it became HeyShutter.
I still run my own studio on it every day. If something doesn't work the way a photographer needs it to, I'm usually the first one to notice.
